This Site

This site is dedicated to the Lewis & Clark Mama's and Papa's club. A club designed to lend a helping hand to those who brave the torture of law school and get little break when they head home to their other job...being a parent. All are welcome, but the purpose of the L&C Mama's and Papa's site is to post tips, events and anything else you think a busy mama or papa would want to know about.

G Diapers

So I heard about this company on NPR only to find out that they're based out of Portland. Sounds wicked cool, but I don't have little babies anymore. But some of you might. Basically G Diapers is an outer shell that's washable and you put a diaper insert inside the shell. The insert just pops right out and is flushable. The company is basically environmentally motivated. Disposable diapers create too much waste and clothe diapers use too much water (since they need to be washed so regularly). So what they did was create an insert that dissolves when flushed so there's no trash and since the little guys do their business on the insert and not the diaper you don't have to wash them nearly as often. Pretty cool.

Resource for Events

I'm posting this site, b/c it's the Portland section of the Parent Zone website. It's a good source if you want to find info and events going on in/around P-town.

Movie Place for West-Siders

There's a place that me and my family love called the Valley Cinema Pub. It's a movie theater in west Portland owned by an elementary school principal and his wife. It's family run, serves local beer and pizzacato. Plus it's a cool old-school theater that's right next door to several restaurants, an arcade and a bowling alley. They almost always have family movies in at least one of their theaters and the prices are cheap. Plus they do this thing called the family matinées where you can buy passes to ten movies for $9 (you heard me!) and the pass is good for one kid and one adult per movie. So, do the math, that's less than a dollar for you and one of your kids to go to the movie. They sell them at the theater or through local schools and they sell them once every few months for the whole packet. You can buy several packs and I'm sure you can buy one now even though you will have missed the first few movies. Me and my daughter love this and have bought these packs for years now.
